Dorothy “Jean” Rose
April 8, 1931 – September 9, 2018
Jean Rose passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Little River-Academy on Sunday, September 9, at the age of 87.
Jean was born in Grayson County, Texas on April 8th, 1931 to Annie Mae Rodgers and Clarence Pruiett. At the age of 16, she met and married the love of her life and husband of 68 years, Vernon Shelby Rose. In 1950 Jean and Vernon moved to Temple where they happily lived out their lives together. Jean was a loving mother of two boys, grandmother of five, great- grandmother of ten, and great-great grandmother of two. She was friends to many during her 20 year career as a hair stylist at Petite Hair Salon in Temple, and loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in January 2017, and her sisters Mary E. Motley and Helen Oliver. Survivors are two sons—Larry Rose and wife Beverly of Temple, and Ronnie Rose and wife Roberta of Little River-Academy.
A grave side service will be held at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 13, 2018.
