Obituary for Velma Pearl Carnes (Allen)
Velma Pearl Carnes, aged 94 years, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at a Bartlett care facility. Velma was born on the 2nd day of May 1923 in Belton, Texas to Charlie Quitman and Willie Mae (McCain) Allen.
In her younger years Velma attended school in Belton. She married Joe Charlie Carnes in New Braunfels, Texas and from there they set out to start their family to include 8 children and over 40 years of marriage. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Holland and had been a resident of Salado for the past 30 years.
Velma is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents Charlie and Willie Mae as well as 4 of her children; sons Joe Allen Carnes, William Robert Carnes and John Charlie Carnes and 1 daughter Linda Thomas.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory 4 children; Roy Wayne Carnes Sr. of Salado, Mary Margaret Keyes of Temple, Glenn Edward Carnes of Georgetown and Barbara Wooley of Holland. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
