Obituary for L. D. Lee

L. D. Lee
L.D. Lee, age 85, passed away peacefully at the Temple VA Hospital after a long battle with acute kidney disease.

L.D was born in Kemp, Texas on Jan.30, 1932. He was the only son of Lonnie and Dollie Lee. As a child, he learned to work on cars and to work in the fields from his father, who worked as a hired hand picking vegetables and cotton. As he grew older, he worked as a mechanic, truck driver, and various odd jobs. L.D entered the US Army in 1953 and retired in 1975 after 22 years of service. L.D was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, Silver Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

After his retirement L.D kept busy working as a truck driver, owned a moving company, and was a automotive manager to occupy his time. L.D was a devout Christian that believed that when his time came that our Lord would take him to be with him in heaven and he was more than ready. L.D passed in peace without pain and has now gone to be with our Lord.

Mr. Lee is survived by a wife, Opal Lavern Lee; his two children daughter, Saundra Woodall and husband Woody; and son, Roger Lee and wife Debra. L.D is also survived by his sister Gerri Crowder. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren: Larry Woodall, Debra Woodall Riley, Mark Woodall, Carrie Lee, Tanya Kendall, and Tabitha Kruse.

There will be a grave side service at 03:00PM on Wednesday, 04/12/2017, at Roberts Cemetery, Troy Texas.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
